When Florence Chan discovered a litter of four kittens in a barn near her house in Alabama, she wasn’t quite sure what to do with them. After some thought, she decided to keep them as her own, and the search for names began. With one cat left to name, Florence was stumped until she watched the film Finding Nemo.
"There was a scene where the characters were chanting 'Shark Bait Hoo Haa Haa' and it got stuck in my head," said Florence. "I've always had unique names for my pets, so I figured why not!"
Sharkbait Hoo Haa Haa’s name brings smiles to nearly everyone she meets, especially those who have seen the movie.
"People always smile or give a little chuckle when they hear her name at the veterinary office," said Florence. "Kids love it too, especially those that like the movie."
Florence and Sharbait Hoo Haa Haa have since moved to Lake Forest, Calif., where they live with his furry feline siblings. Sharkbait Hoo Haa Haa is a polydactyl cat (she has thumb digits on her paws) that loves to chase lasers and run through her cat tunnels.
Florence signed Sharkbait Hoo Haa Haa up for pet insurance from Nationwide after the feline got into a tussle with a neighbor dog and sustained costly wounds.
"After Sharkbait Hoo Haa Haa got hurt I started looking into pet insurance," said Florence. "I found out I could get it as a benefit through work and enrolled all my pets. It's been really helpful."
