While Rachel Simpson of Brooklyn, New York, was in college, she and her roommate decided they wanted to adopt a kitten to keep them company. After making the collaborative decision to adopt a cat, it was time to choose a name for their newest roommate.
"We were broke college students at the time, so we didn’t have cable TV," said Rachel. "We would watch the series 'Friends' over and over on DVD, which helped us in choosing a name. We first considered 'Smelly Cat' as a name, which reminded us of Phoebe, and then we remembered her name Princess Consuela Bananahammock. Immediately we knew that was our kitten's name."
Princess Consuela Bananahammock has been with Rachel ever since and has grown into a cuddly and sassy cat who loves to take charge. Over the years, she has even developed an infatuation with fashionable boas and using them as a toy. Princess Consuela Bananahammock will often find a boa to play with which, typically results in feathers everywhere. Rachel admits to still finding feathers in places years after the boa has been seen.
Rachel decided to sign Princess Consuela Bananahammock up for Nationwide pet insurance since it is offered as a benefit through her employer.
"Having a pet insurance provides peace of mind," said Rachel. "Princess Consuela Bananahammock is getting older and it's a relief to know I have pet insurance to help offset future veterinary expenses."
