Cindy Montgomery and her daughters, Keira and Jordan, needed no help from the wizardry world to come up with the magical name Hairy Pawter.
“My younger daughter really liked the Harry Potter series,” says Cindy. “I was talking to her and I said let’s make it more like an animal.”
Cindy says people think the name is cool, especially once they learn how it’s spelled—and we agree: Hairy Pawter has summoned a nomination for this year’s Wackiest Pet Name competition.
When it comes to naming your pet, Cindy advises pet owners “think of something in reference to how the pet looks or makes you feel. Something that makes you feel love,” she says, adding with a laugh, “and is easy to remember.”
Cindy knows firsthand how costly it can be to pay for veterinary bills without pet insurance from a past experience, and wanted her current cats to be protected should anything happen.
“At least with [pet] insurance, if something can be done, you’ll have the means to do it, without having to pay for everything yourself,” she says.
