“We really wanted all of our birds to have pun names,” says bird mom Shannon P. “My boyfriend thought of the name ‘Birdie Sanders’ and it stuck!”
Shannon says the name is quite fitting for her unique little bird: “Birdie is very much a politician, and he makes sure to spend time with each member of the flock to maintain his influence. In addition to regular morning and evening announcements, Birdie likes to make ‘speeches’ all day long.” Those speeches may be for his humans, his flock-mates or even his wooden jungle gym!
She adds, “It started as a name, but I do think he has definitely grown into owning it.”
When it comes to pet protection, Shannon votes for Nationwide for her birds. “Having insurance for them in case of an accident makes me feel better about the whole situation.”
