What do you name a rabbit who commands the Rabbits of the North, the general of the Bunny Legions, servant to the true emperor, Delectamentum Carota (a.k.a. delicious carrot)? Why, Leapus Maximus, of course.
“Leapus Maximus is named as an homage to the character Maximus Decimus Merdidus, commander of the armies of the north … loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius,” says bun dad Alexander D.
It’s a fine and fitting wacky name for an esteemed and dignified leaper. “As a rabbit, Leapus Maxiumus jumps quite a bit—sometimes astonishingly so,” Alexander says. “I got [her] at the age of 2 months, and upon arriving home she immediately leapt out of my arms 15 feet across the room.”
Protecting a warrior rabbit can become costly when veterinary care is needed. Fortunately, Alexander has enlisted the help of a great protector—in the form of Nationwide pet insurance. “[I got pet insurance] to mitigate the cost of vet bills in the case of illness or injury, both of which are common with rabbits.”
