For a name that matches witchiness with wackiness, few felines can wave a wand at Minerva MeowGonagall, beloved kitty of Nationwide member Quyen D.
“We usually name our cats after scientists or characters from novels with a cat twist—including past names like Steline Pawking and Meowrie Purrie,” Quyen says. For this particular domestic shorthair cat, a more magical approach to naming was warranted.
“When we got Minerva, she seemed like an older cat in her mannerisms, even though she is just a few years old. We decided that she made us think of Professor Minerva McGonagall from the Harry Potter series.” All that was left to add in the purr-fect pun for a truly meow-gical monicker, “Thus, Minerva MeowGonagall.”
From the moment they met, Minerva cast a spell on Quyen, in part because she proved to be so purr-suasively affectionate. Quyen continues, “She is a very active head-butting kitty. When she is anywhere near your hands—even if they are just at your side while on the phone—she will run up and push her head into your hands, aggressively showing you all her affection.”
Minerva may have the Order of the Phoenix behind her, but she still needs all the protection against unexpected veterinary expenses that she can get. That’s why Quyen sorted her into the house of Nationwide pet insurance. “Because our pets are family and you want your family to have the best care you can get,” Quyen adds.
