From the beginning, little Steph Purrrry was a long shot. However, in the end, his snuggly nature and wacky name have made him a purr-ennial All Star.
“Steph was being fostered in March during March Madness and all fosters were given basketball-themed names,” cat mom and Nationwide member Lisa L. remembers. Steph was found at 3 days old and brought to a veterinary hospital by firefighters. At the time, he wasn’t making any noise. He was hand raised by a foster family and against long odds, he pulled through.
Lisa continues, “When he finally started purring, he just never stopped—and so his foster mom Ashley named him after Steph Curry, but Purrrry. Now that tiny kitten is 27 lbs and stretches more than 5 feet long!”
Like his namesake point guard, Steph is a team player in every sense. When his 15-year-old Shih poo brother, Ben, started losing his eyesight, Steph took on the role of his protector. Lisa continues,“[If] Steph sees Ben heading into trouble, he runs to get in front of him and … turns him a different direction to keep his best friend safe.”
Steph Purrrry has overcome quite a lot to now play top of the key on Lisa’s team. She returns the favor by getting her Maine coon cat mix the best defense: Nationwide pet insurance. She says, “I've had Nationwide for years and you should always protect your pets with coverage.”
