Pet naming is a noble pursuit, so it’s no surprise that many pet parents choose aristocratic inspiration for naming their companions. But when Nationwide member Jesse M. and family set out in search of their perfect name for their pup, they added a little waddle—and took the wackiness to the next level.
Jesse remembers, “We noticed that he started to make snorting noises like a pig when he was excited, and my daughter knew about a cartoon pig named Waddles.” Waddles was a good name, but not quite perfect.
“Our pup is an English cream golden retriever,” Jesse continues. “So, one day, the kids were joking around about him having an English name, and we started putting 'Lord' and 'Sir' in front of other names. Then, my son announced out loud in a funny sounding English accent: Lord Waddles! We all started laughing hysterically and the name just stuck after that.”
Jesse adds, “We love Waddles because he makes us laugh all the time when he snorts. When you scratch him, he’ll stretch out all long and make a weird smile when you rub his tummy.”
Jesse and family never thought twice about getting pet insurance for the noble canine of the family—which is why they got Nationwide pet insurance: “Lord Waddles is an important and loved member of our family! He deserves the best care and the best protection to help keep him happy, healthy and strong for many years to come.”
